Hiking Day 7

Malga Ciapela to San Pellegrino

With the prospect of a beautiful view we stashed packs at our hotel
and took the funivia (three, actually) to Punta Rocca at 3270 m (10,728') on Marmolada.

A great view from the Marmolada. The high point you see is Piz BoƩ (where we had the high altitude lunch three days before). Rifugio Viel Dal Pan (where we slept two nights before) is perched on the closer ridge but is virtually invisible.

Now back to carrying packs and making our way along a road for a ways...

...then up through meadows...

Heading up to Forca Rossa (Red Pass).

At Forca Rossa. Way to the left you can see the little hamlet of Malga Ciapela. Pan across the pass to the green pastures we will decend while making our way to Passo San Pelligrino.
